The Must-Have Nursing Bra For the No-Bra Lover

Read to find out more!

Here’s the thing: I don’t know the science behind wearing bras at home but even if I did, I wouldn’t wear them. I just can’t. I’m all about comfort especially when it comes to lounging at home. But then I had a baby and my milk jugs, formerly and tenderly known as boobs, started spewing milk everywhere at any given time; I had to call in reinforcements.

I think I soaked a shirt daily before I started regularly wearing a nursing bra at home. Before I gave birth, I sparingly purchased a few with the intention of only wearing them when I leave the house. Since my stance on bras weren’t going to change (long-term) I only bought a few different ones. I also scoured the internet looking for the comfiest and budget friendly options. After purchasing a few (cheaper) recommended ones from Amazon, I caved and ordered Bravado! Designs Womens’ Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra – Butterscotch – Medium

Since the other recommended bras (Motherhood Maternity, iLoveSia, Caramel Cantina) were disappointing, I wasn’t expecting much when I received my order. But from the moment I strapped it on, it molded to my breasts and gave enough support make me feel flexible yet secure. I knew a match was made in heaven and considered throwing all the former contenders away.

This one is actually comfy with a breathable fabric. I found other ones to be too thick and come with four (?!) clasps. I don’t know about you but going from two clasps to four is a bit of a culture shock. This one has three which is all you really need. Also the breast padding on these is much thinner and easier to fold down when baby is trying to latch. The bras with thicker padding tend to create an unintentional hurdle for my baby to latch. The band is thin and stretchy which makes it easy to keep on for hours and forget about the overhang from pregnancy um… bloating (it’s my back, I can call the extra skin whatever I want!) They’re also low cut enough that the whole world doesn’t have to know that your boobs are harnessed in. Basically, it’s the bra that us untamable, nipple freeing ladies can jive with until the milk production team gets it together.

The only thing stopping me from ordering a whole drawer full of these bras is its price. Priced at $50, it’s unfortunately a bit steeper than I would want to spend, BUT it’s worth it. Especially if you’ve tried the fan favorites and nothing feels comfy enough to spend twelve hours in. If you’re planning on nursing, buy at least four or five. I have one but I wish I had seven. Really. It’s the bra I wash constantly and layer breast pads in to maximize my wear time.

There’s nothing like a nipple free day in your comfiest tees but it’s a small price to pay while providing nutrients and well, food for your baby. These bras make nursing easier, bra-wearing a hundred times better, and leakage nonexistent. To save some of my tees from milk stains and my furniture from my overflow, I’ll happily strap these bras on.
